"Be humble, my daughter, and the devil cannot harm you."

Suddenly, I was surrounded by a pack of huge black dogs who were jumping and howling. I realized that they were not dogs, but demons. I asked them, "Where do you come from in such great numbers?"

"Out of human hearts! Stop tormenting us with your prayers! Because you have snatched so many souls away from us this night that we have worked for for many years, we will tear you to pieces!"

"If that is the will of the most merciful God, tear me to pieces, for I have justly deserved it, for I am the most miserable of all sinners."

"Let us flee! She is not alone. The Almighty is with her!"

And as they vanished like dust, my soul felt great peace under the protection of our merciful Lord.
